Style Icons – Alexa Chung

As part of the Dream Wardrobe consultations I always ask people who their style icons are.  Each time there are a group of names that come up over and over again. So I thought it would be a great idea to focus on each of these style icons, delving into what their signature style is and how we can translate that into our me made wardrobes.

Alexa Chung is a the darling of the fashion world. Starting out as a model scouted at Reading festival aged just 16. She has modelled for some big names such as Vivienne Westwood, DKNY and Stella McCartney.  In 2009 she had a Mulberry Handbag named after her.  Not content with owning the fashion world she has also done lots of presenting and writing for fashion magazines. In 2016 she finally launched her own fashion line that reflects her personal style.  She describes this as ‘Combining Parisian chic with a New York edge, as well as the very British sense of humour’

Mini Skirts: Not afraid to show a bit of leg, Alexa has been photographed in many mini skirts. Usually paired with a simple tee shirt or shirt tucked in.

The Tilly and The Buttons Arielle Skirt is perfect for this look. Make it in either a Retro wash denim or Faux leather. Tights optional!

Faux Leather - Black

The Slip Dress: This 90’s classic is firmly back on our radar and Alexa chooses hers in a moody dark floral design.

The Papercut Mito dress has all the simplicity of this dress and made in this Chaffinch bough crepe it would look stunning.

Dungarees: One piece dressing makes mornings go that bit quicker so take a tip from Alexa and embrace the dungarees.

The new Mila dungarees, also from Tilly & The Buttons, are perfect for this look. Opt for the Cleo if you prefer a skirt to trousers.  They need a bit of stretch so head over to the denim section and see all of our stretch denims, including this Cotton & Modal version.
