The pattern: Roscoe dress by True Bias
The fabric: Crane Beauty Viscose Lawn
I am a huge fan of a minimal effort, maximum effect dress and this definitely fits this category. You can just pull it on and that is your outfit sorted, no need to co-ordinate a top and bottom. Plus, no need to worry about having a big lunch and it looks just as good with sandals, trainers, heels or thick tights and boots.
The Roscoe dress is a really good pattern for a beginner who has a couple of patterns under their belt. There is no fitting, which makes it really simple and the raglan sleeves are easy to insert and the neck tie is fiddly but not difficult.
Now let’s talk about this fabric, I mean isn’t it just stunning. I love the way it wafts about as I move. The colour is lovely and means that I can wear this dress in the warmer weather I am hanging onto and later with a polo neck underneath once coat season hits. I can honestly say, since I finished this dress I have not wanted to take it off and I can’t think of an occasion it has not been suitable for. OK maybe not the pool but you get what I mean, with this dress you get a lot of wear as it is so versatile.
I am 100% sure I will make another one, though I may try and alter the neckline just for a change. A plain version in our Sorrento viscose crepe would be so fabulous I just need to decide on a colour…..
